Tots & Twos

A parent-child STEM class recommended for kids ages 18 - 36 months. Every Tues & Weds morning.


Class Description

In this parent-child class recommended for ages 18 - 36 months, we invite curious kiddos to explore different STEM topics through age-appropriate hands-on activities each week. After a short circle time, kids explore open-ended, taste-safe sensory stations designed engage little minds! Tots & Twos includes 30 minutes of guided instruction time and an hour of open play. Caregivers must stay with their child for the duration of the class. Our session begins at the listed time with 15 minutes of open play so that children can warm up to the space. Then we will move into the classroom and do guided activities for 30 minutes, ending with 45 minutes of open play in the play space. Need to cancel? Please call or email us 24 hours before the start time of the class to be eligible for a credit. If you have a class package, you may contact us to cancel any time before the start of the class. January Classes: 🪇 Sounds Like Fun (week of 1/6)- Learn about the science of sound as we try different musical instruments, bang on pots and pans with utensils, guess mystery sounds & build with jingle bells & magnets. 🌋 Rocks, Fossils & Volcanoes (week of 1/13): Investigate different kinds of rocks, dig for fossils in sand, make our own fossils with playdough and experiment with kid-safe volcanic eruptions! 📖 Fairytales (week of 1/20): The Gingerbread Man, Rapunzel, Jack, and The Billy Goats Gruff need our help! Use catapults, parachutes, slides and building skills to help these familiar storybook friends. ❄️ Groundhog's day & Weather (week of 1/27): Will there be six more weeks of winter? Learn about this wacky holiday as we experiment with shadows, rain, snow, wind, and temperature. February Classes: 🧲 Magnets (week of 2/3): Explore what makes magnets so attractive as we build, repel, sort, and move things with all sorts of magnetic STEM toys! 💗 Valentine's STEM (week of 2/10): Spread the love as we celebrate Valentine’s day with fizzy baking soda hearts, flying rose petals in the wind tunnel, coffee filter chromatography, and a rose petal rice sensory bin! 🧠 Human Body (week of 2/17): Learn more about what makes us tick as we listen to heartbeats, examine X-rays, inflate lungs, assemble skeletons, and dig into a jello brain! 👃Follow Your Nose (week of 2/24): Investigate your sense of smell as we mix fresh herbs into play dough, draw on sandpaper with cinnamon sticks, activate tea bags with warm water, and play with a citrus sensory bin!
