Mini Makers

Class Description

Our Mini Makers class for ages 3-6 takes STEM exploration a step further! After a circle time with songs and a read aloud , kids jump into STEM learning with hands-on activities and wrap up with a maker activity to take home! This class includes 45 minutes of guided instruction and 45 minutes of open play. Caregivers must stay in the building but do not need to attend the class portion. Mini Makers begins with 15 minutes of caregiver-supervised open play (from 3:30-3:45), then moves into our classroom for the guided activity (3:45-4:30), and concludes with 30 more minutes of caregiver-supervised open play (4:30-5:00). Need to cancel? Please call or email us 24 hours before the start time of the class to be eligible for a credit. If you have a class package, you may contact us to cancel any time before the start of the class. February Classes: Week of 2/5: 👃Follow Your Nose- Investigate your sense of smell as we mix fresh herbs into play dough, draw on sandpaper with cinnamon sticks, activate tea bags with warm water, and play with a citrus sensory bin! Week of 2/12: 💗 Valentines Day: Spread the love as we celebrate with themed STEM activities including fizzy baking soda hearts, flying flower petals in the wind tunnel, chromatography, and heart catapults! Week of 2/19: 🧠 Human Body- Learn more about what makes us tick as we listen to heartbeats, examine X-rays, inflate lungs, assemble skeletons, and dig into a jello brain! Week of 2/26: 🧲 Magnets- Explore what makes magnets so attractive as we build, repel, sort, and move things with all sorts of STEM toys! March Classes: Week of March 4th: 🌦️ Weather- Make it rain, play with snow, and feel the wind in this fun hands-on class all about weather! Week of March 11th: 🚗 Things That Go: Get moving and explore STEM in motion! Roll cars, float boats, fly planes, twist cranks, and wind up toys as we experiment with all sorts of things that go. Week of March 18th: 🌱 Welcome Spring- Explore all the wonderful signs of spring as we learn through play. Plant seeds, collect eggs, pull apart flower buds, and make pretend chicks chirp while we celebrate the spring equinox! Week of March 25th: 🧪 Science Surprises: Get ready to be amazed in this fun chemistry class! Pop bubbles, whisk up taste-safe foam, use chemical reactions to inflate balloons, paint with water and watch colors change before your eyes.
